Bopela Group develops innovative solutions to build critical infrastructure and landmark projects.

Started as a small Refrigeration and Air Conditioning company called Techno-cul in Botswana dealing with Car Air conditioning, Domestic Air conditioning, Commercial and Industrial Refrigeration. Under Techno-cul, we successfully completed many projects, serviced and maintained many buildings in Botswana before we ventured into Construction. We managed to grow into a well-diversified construction company called BOPELA GROUP specializing in Telecommunication Infrastructure Development, Mechanical Contracting, Electrical contracting and Solar Power Generation. We have foot prints in the SADC region mainly Botswana, Eswatini, South Africa, Zambia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and now in Ethiopia. Our clients can entrust their projects in our capable hands and know that the job will be completed professionally and in record time. We have the ability to organize workload, operate under tight and harsh conditions meeting deadlines with minimum supervision.

BOPELA GROUP OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY (OHS) STATEMENT

Bopela Group is committed to the goal of providing and maintaining a healthy and safe working environment, with a view to continuous improvement. This goal is only achievable by adherence to established objectives striving to exceed all obligations under applicable legislation, and by fostering an enthusiastic commitment to health, safety and the environment within Bopela Group Personnel, Contractors and Visitors.
In particular:

Management, working in cooperation with the Joint Health and Safety Committee, will strive to take all reasonable steps to reduce workplace hazards to as low as reasonably achievable.

Supervisors and Managers are held accountable for the health and safety of all employees under their supervision. This includes responsibility for applicable training and instruction, appropriate follow up on reported health and safety concerns, and implementation of recommended corrective action. This accountability is integrated into the Performance Appraisal System.

  • Supervisors, Workers and Visitors are expected to perform their duties and responsibilities in a safe and healthful manner, and are accountable for the Health and Safety of themselves and others.
  • Bopela Group is committed to providing all necessary training and instruction to ensure that appropriate work practices are followed on the job, and to promote their use off the job.
  • If necessary, Bopela Group will take disciplinary action where individuals fail to work in a healthy and safe manner, or do not comply with applicable legislation or corporate policies and procedures.

Lets Talk

To ensure proper health and safety standards as well as reducing risks of injuries and deaths in its department of Telecommunication Infrastructure Development, Bopela Group will make sure it follows these safety steps among others:

  • Appointing a properly qualified Safety Officer/ Manager, whose special and main responsibility is the promotion of Safety and Health. This manager is granted a direct access to an executive director of the company.
  • Ensure there is a Safety Manual for each team with all detailed safety procedures.
  • Facilitate the establishment of safety committees, so as to enable management and workers to work together in preventing accidents and improving working conditions on site.
  • Ensure that hoisting equipment used to lift workers is designed to prevent uncontrolled descent and is properly rated for the intended use.
  • Ensure that hoist operators are properly trained.
  • Ensure that workers use 100% fall protection when working on towers at heights above 25 feet.
  • Provide workers with a 100% fall-protection system compatible with Tower components and the tasks to be performed.
  • Ensure that Gin Poles are installed and used according to the specifications of the manufacturer or a registered professional engineer.
  • Ensure that Tower Erectors are adequately trained in proper climbing techniques, including sustaining three-point contact.
  • Provide workers with OSHA-required personal protective equipment and training in its proper use.
  • Ensure that workers inspect their equipment daily to identify any damage or deficiencies.
  • Provide workers with an adequate work-positioning device system. Connectors on positioning systems must be compatible with the Tower Components to which they are attached.
  • Know and comply with child labor laws that prohibit hazardous work by workers under age 18.
